School Support
Anglicare Southern Queensland work closely with the school offering both targeted and universal support. Small group programs occur throughout the year to support students with their social and emotional wellbeing, providing lifelong strategies.
Each year Anglicare also provide the “Step it up" program for year six students to support their transition to high school. Over eight weeks lessons are provided as part of the year six health unit. The Australian Curriculum has a focus on Personal, Social, and Community Health and in this unit students focus on their personal and social health in terms of learning about managing their own emotions and interacting positively with others.
Laidley District and Anglicare consider the transition to high school a milestone and acknowledge that this is a significant change for students. We aim to support all students in this journey.
Students and families starting prep are also supported by Anglicare and Laidley Community Centre as part of welcome morning tea. The first day of school can hard for both students and parents and we aim to make this a positive experience for everyone.
Family Support
Anglicare Southern Queensland provides support for families, who may be experiencing stress due to emotional, physical or economic changes. They can support you with regular appointments, here at the school or in home over a three to six month period. They will work with families to:
- Develop parenting skills through one-on-one support or groups programs
- Develop budgeting and household skills
- Strengthen family relationships
- Achieve social and emotional wellbeing
- Support your child's development and transition through school
- Connect with other parent groups an children's playgroup
