Hello and welcome to Laidley District State School!
This school began its journey in 2000, as an amalgamation of Laidley North, Laidley Central and Mulgowie State Schools after their respective closures.
At this time, the school was primarily rebuilt on the grounds of the old Laidley North State School site, which means that today we enjoy exceptional facilities and extensive landscaping – a superb school to learn and play in.
Laidley District pays respect to the Kitabul, Yugerra and Ugarapul peoples and acknowledge them as the custodians of the lands we meet on daily. We pay respect to elders past, present and emerging, and respectfully believe we have amongst our student cohort elders of the future, with over 20% of our population proud First Nations students. Our school is one of the few in the state to initiate a Community Education Counsellor role, someone who is dedicated to lifting and maintaining engagement and achievement of all students, with a particular focus on our First Nations cohort. Our CEC worker provides various opportunities to engage with First Nations music, dance and the arts through Didgeridoo groups, Dance troupes, Choir, Young Lads group and recently a Young Women’s group.
Our school is truly the heart of the Laidley community, and enjoys strong partnerships with a wide range of community stakeholders, particularly through organisations such as Together 4 Lockyer, who meet on a quarterly basis to discuss community trends and services, and how we can best support children and their families to thrive in the critical early years from 0-8 years of age. This work has been commended state wide and we are very proud to be leading the way in this space.
A comprehensive recent review spoke highly of the friendly and welcoming environment Laidley District embodies, as well as acknowledging the tremendous work of staff to ensure success for every student in our care.
Proudly Laidley legends every day at LDSS…..we look forward to meeting you and your family soon!
