All year 6 students at Laidley District State School participate in the ‘Young Leaders Program’ developed by Michael Grose and Sue McAdam. This program is designed to enhance the personal and public leadership qualities and forms the foundation for the school leadership program.

In term four each year all current year 5 students have the opportunity to nominate for formal leadership positions such as;

  • School captains

  • School vice-captains

  • House captains

  • House vice-captains

  • Arts captains

  • Student council class representatives

The role of the leadership group is to:

  •  actively promote our positive behaviour approach throughout the school

  •  fundraise for selected charities and school wide resources.

School leadership positions provide opportunities for representatives to develop and practice leadership skills.

Spirit of Anzac Citizenship Award

The Laidley RSL-sub branch sponsors the 'Spirit of Anzac Citizenship Award' which recognises student involvement in not-for-profit community activities. Students can nominate themselves for this award by completing the application form.
