Teaching and learning

During 2013 a team of teachers, administration and support staff drafted the Laidley District State School Pedagogical Framework. The Pedagogical Framework Document (PDF, 32KB) outlines expectations in relation to the way that teaching and learning occurs at Laidley District State School. This document is founded upon high expectations for student achievement and will be implemented school wide from term 1 2014.

The underlying philosophy for the Laidley District State School Pedagogical Framework is “Explicit Instruction” (Archer and Hughes, 2011). Explicit Instruction is a teaching method which achieves high student engagement and maximises student success.

Within the Laidley District State School Pedagogical Framework you will find information regarding:

  • The curriculum taught and assessed.

  • The sequence of teaching and learning.

  • Making judgements on student achievement.

  • Feedback and coaching for students.

  • Feedback and coaching for staff.

Teaching, Learning and Assessment Overviews

The term overviews are a guide to the curriculum content to be covered in a year level and include what assessment will occur.  You can find out what your child is learning about in the subject areas.  Multi-age classes will operate using either multi-age units or the classroom teacher will differentiate lessons to cater for all students and year levels.

Term overviews are available via the link on the right. All overviews are in a single zip file (less than 1MB) and are updated each term.
